Annual Report 2024–25: Reaching 12,000 New Beneficiaries
Our Annual Report for 2024–25 is now available. This year, BITAN extended its reach to 5 new blocks, onboarded 2 new corporate CSR partners, and trained 1,200+ youth in employability skills.
BITAN's Annual Report 2024–25 — published today — documents the organisation's most expansive year of operation since its founding in 2005. In the twelve months to March 2025, BITAN directly reached 12,043 new beneficiaries across West Bengal and Tripura, bringing the cumulative total served since inception to over 62,000 individuals.
The year's headline achievements include the launch of operations in five new development blocks — Beldanga II and Murshidabad Jiaganj in Murshidabad district, and Karimpur I, Karimpur II, and Chapra in Nadia district. Expansion into these blocks was made possible by two new CSR partnerships: one with a leading FMCG company for a maternal nutrition programme, and another with a technology company for a digital literacy initiative for rural adolescent girls.
In the livelihood sector, BITAN trained 1,247 youth in formal employability and vocational skills, with 891 (71.5%) achieving employment or self-employment outcomes by December 2025. The waste management programme, now covering 11 municipalities, diverted an estimated 720 tonnes of organic waste from landfills through community composting infrastructure operated by trained Safai Mitras.
The health portfolio saw BITAN conduct 248 community health camps reaching 19,400 attendees, with maternal and child health services delivered to 8,700 women across 142 villages. The Adolescent Health programme enrolled 3,200 girls in menstrual health, nutrition, and rights awareness sessions through a school-linked model piloted this year in partnership with the Government of West Bengal's health department.
